Location: Ottawa, IL

Compensation: Up to approx. $125,000 annually (DOE)

Position Summary

Seeking an Electrical Engineer with strong PLC expertise and bilingual Japanese/English capability to support industrial automation systems. This role involves design, programming, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration with Japanese-speaking stakeholders to ensure effective project execution.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems (e.g., Mitsubishi, Omron, Siemens, Allen-Bradley)
  • Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
  • Support installation, commissioning, and startup of automation equipment
  • Collaborate with Japanese-speaking teams to translate technical requirements and documentation
  • Perform system testing, debugging, and performance optimization
  • Provide technical support and training to internal teams and customers
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in PLC programming and industrial automation
  • Proficiency with major PLC platforms (Mitsubishi, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control panel layouts
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Japanese language proficiency (business level or higher, strong reading and writing required)
  • English proficiency (written and spoken)

Preferred:

  • Experience with robotics or factory automation systems
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus)
  • Experience in manufacturing environments, especially with Japanese organizations
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN)
