Title: Accounting Associate

A Japanese company is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Associate to support a broad range of accounting, treasury, reporting, compliance, and operational finance functions.

This role will be responsible for daily cash management, transaction funding support, month-end and year-end close activities, tax and audit support, payroll coordination, expense processing, and regulatory/administrative reporting.

The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced financial services environment.

・Salary Range: $60,000 – $70,000

・Work Location: Manhattan, NY

・Work Arrangement: Hybrid (at least 3 days per week in the office)

・Japanese and English language skills required

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily cash positions and prepare short- to mid-term cash flow forecasts
  • Support funding execution, bank borrowings, and short-term investment activities
  • Review loan-related documents and assist with funding and financing activities
  • Track loan balances, interest accruals, interest income/expense, and related payments
  • Prepare invoices and funding-related notices
  • Prepare payment instructions and ensure proper documentation retention
  • Review accounting records and reconcile financial data
  • Prepare financial reports and reporting packages for management
  • Assist with monthly tax-related entries, including income tax and deferred tax
  • Prepare annual tax support documents (e.g., 1099 / 1042)
  • Coordinate audit requests, prepare schedules, and provide supporting documentation
  • Validate payroll reports and maintain payroll records
  • Process employee reimbursements, travel & entertainment expenses, and recurring expenses
  • Manage corporate card reconciliations and expense reporting
  • Assist with insurance renewals, premium payments, and related documentation
  • Support business registrations, license renewals, and regulatory filings
  • Maintain electronic document management systems for contracts and transaction records

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2+ years of accounting, finance, or audit experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks) is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in financial services, lending, treasury, or corporate accounting
  • Exposure to audit, tax support, payroll, or regulatory reporting
  • Experience with intercompany transactions and HQ reporting
  • Japanese/English bilingual skills preferred
