Overview<\/h3>\n

A Japanese food manufacturing company is seeking a Purchasing\/ Procurement Supervisor. This role plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of ingredients, packaging materials, and operational supplies for food production. This position oversees purchasing activities, manages supplier relationships, and ensures compliance with food safety standards and company policies. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • Supervise daily purchasing operations, including sourcing raw materials, packaging, and indirect supplies.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, ensuring quality, reliability, and competitive pricing.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with vendors, focusing on food-grade materials and regulatory compliance.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and warehouse teams to prevent shortages or overstock.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Ensure all purchases meet food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, SQF, FDA, USDA) and company specifications.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Collaborate with R&D and Quality Assurance teams on new product sourcing and supplier approvals.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Track market trends and ingredient pricing to inform purchasing decisions and cost-saving initiatives.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Resolve issues related to delivery delays, quality discrepancies, or invoice variances.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Support audits and regulatory inspections by providing procurement documentation and traceability.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Qualifications:<\/h3>\n
      \n
    • Bachelor\u2019s degree in Supply Chain Management, Food Science, Business Administration, or related field.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • 2+ years of purchasing experience in food manufacturing or a related industry.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Strong understanding of food safety regulations and supplier quality assurance.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Experience with ERP systems and procurement software <\/span><\/li>\n
    • Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
