Position Overview<\/h3>\n

A growing automotive manufacturing operation is seeking a Production Engineer<\/strong> to support manufacturing and engineering teams with process optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role focuses on injection molding operations, automation systems, and robotics<\/strong>, with a strong emphasis on hands-on problem solving on the production floor.<\/p>\n

The position is highly practical and collaborative, with approximately 70% of time spent on the manufacturing floor (Gemba)<\/strong> observing processes, collecting data, and implementing improvements. Working closely with quality, maintenance, and production teams, the Production Engineer will help improve efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain high-quality standards.<\/p>\n

This role is ideal for early-career engineers or professionals with injection molding experience<\/strong> who enjoy working directly with manufacturing processes and equipment.<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • Support production operations by troubleshooting manufacturing processes, equipment, and automation systems.<\/li>\n
  • Analyze production issues and perform root cause analysis<\/strong> to resolve quality or efficiency problems.<\/li>\n
  • Apply continuous improvement methodologies<\/strong> such as PDCA, Lean, and Six Sigma to optimize manufacturing performance.<\/li>\n
  • Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and IATF16949 quality standards<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • Design and improve production processes to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and maintain safety.<\/li>\n
  • Assist with automation systems, robotics, and material handling equipment<\/strong> used in injection molding operations.<\/li>\n
  • Conduct plant trials and testing to validate process improvements.<\/li>\n
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs)<\/strong> and process documentation.<\/li>\n
  • Collaborate closely with quality, maintenance, and production teams<\/strong> to address manufacturing challenges.<\/li>\n
  • Support layout planning and equipment integration for process changes or new production initiatives.<\/li>\n
  • Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and operational excellence on the manufacturing floor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Qualifications<\/h3>\n
      \n
    • Bachelor\u2019s degree in Engineering or a related technical field<\/strong>, or equivalent manufacturing experience.<\/li>\n
    • Experience in plastic injection molding manufacturing environments<\/strong> preferred.<\/li>\n
    • Familiarity with PLC systems, CAD\/CAM, automation, or robotics<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • Understanding of quality systems such as ISO9001 and IATF16949<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.<\/li>\n
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n<\/hr>\n

      Preferred Skills<\/h3>\n
        \n
      • Experience with injection molding process parameters and mold setup<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      • Experience performing process improvement and production optimization<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      • Strong data analysis and documentation skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Work Environment<\/h3>\n
          \n
        • Majority of work is hands-on in a manufacturing environment<\/strong>, spending significant time on the production floor.<\/li>\n
        • Regular standing, walking, and interaction with production equipment.<\/li>\n
        • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        • Exposure to industrial equipment, machinery, and manufacturing processes.
