A global Japanese trading company specializing in plastics and packaging materials is seeking a Business Development Manager.<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Position Summary<\/h2>\n

This position is responsible for import sales and marketing activities for the flexible packaging and plastics film converting industries in the Americas.<\/p>\n

The role includes key account management, new business development, market analysis, forecasting, and customer relationship management.<\/p>\n

The position contributes to business growth and profitability through identifying new opportunities and maintaining strong customer relationships.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Approximately 70% of the role focuses on existing account management and 30% on new business development<\/strong>, including expanding relationships with U.S.-based customers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/h1>\n

Sales & Business Development<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • Manage and expand relationships with existing customers (approximately 70% of responsibilities<\/strong>).<\/li>\n
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities (approximately 30% of responsibilities<\/strong>).<\/li>\n
  • Develop new relationships with U.S.-based customers (approximately 30\u201340% of business development efforts)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • Approach potential customers using existing prospect lists and market research rather than cold calling<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • Conduct market research to identify customer needs, industry trends, pricing, and global competition.<\/li>\n
  • Utilize the company\u2019s global network to explore new business opportunities.<\/li>\n
  • Make presentations to prospective customers and vendors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Strategy & Market Analysis<\/h3>\n
      \n
    • Monitor macro and micro market trends including supply\/demand, pricing, and customer requirements.<\/li>\n
    • Develop strategies for new product development and market expansion.<\/li>\n
    • Respond to industry trends such as sustainability and recycling initiatives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Reporting & Administration<\/h3>\n
        \n
      • Report key business updates and market insights to management.<\/li>\n
      • Work closely with Customer Service, Sales Assistants, and Accounting during monthly closing processes.<\/li>\n
      • Support invoice and payment coordination.<\/li>\n
      • Prepare internal reports and documentation.<\/li>\n
      • Review sales budgets and forecasts with management.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Qualifications<\/span><\/h1>\n
          \n
        • Bachelor\u2019s degree required.<\/li>\n
        • Experience in sales or marketing within plastics film, resin, or flexible packaging industry<\/strong> preferred.<\/li>\n
        • Technical knowledge in plastics, polymer, or chemical fields is a plus.<\/li>\n
        • Business-level Japanese is a plus but not required.<\/strong><\/li>\n
        • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.<\/li>\n
        • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).<\/li>\n
        • Ability to manage multiple tasks and customer requests in a fast-paced environment.<\/li>\n
        • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and INCOTERMS<\/strong> is a plus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
